Commissioning and Ongoing Management for a Growing Somerset Vineyard

Overview

When Wraxall Vineyard – one of Somerset’s oldest – expanded its tasting facilities and added overnight accommodation, off-mains sewage treatment became essential. The owners needed expert guidance from commissioning through to long-term management.

The Challenge

With no mains sewage, visitor numbers of up to 10,000 per year and overnight accommodation for up to 14 people, the vineyard needed a system that could be commissioned confidently and maintained to EA permit standards in a sensitive rural environment.

The WCI Solution

WCI reviewed the proposed GRAF One2Clean system and identified changes that reduced costs by approximately 10%. WCI Service Engineers then commissioned the plant – operational within hours – and managed the EA permit application. The vineyard’s own contractor handled the groundworks under WCI’s remote technical guidance.

The Outcome

Nine months after commissioning, the system was performing perfectly with effluent fully meeting EA permit requirements. WCI Service Engineers continue to service the plant twice a year, providing laboratory analysis and compliance confirmation.
