Overview
The sewage treatment system at Croydon Hall country guest house had served the estate for over a century. While maintained by the local groundskeeper over the years, specialist rectification was now required – and the access logistics were anything but straightforward.
The Challenge
Much of the pipework was damaged and corroded, the distribution system within the percolation beds was failing, and the dosing mechanism needed replacement. The only access was by tractor across third-party agricultural land at strict scheduled times, discharging into a licensed tanker by specialist connector.
The WCI Solution
WCI Service Engineers coordinated the complex desludging logistics, then carried out a full refurbishment: damaged pipework repaired or replaced, new distribution pipework installed in both beds, a new dosing mechanism fitted for even distribution of effluent, and both beds weeded and restored.
The Outcome
The system now operates correctly and in compliance with Environment Agency guidelines, continuing to serve the main house and estate cottages as it has for generations.
