Of WCI Service Engineers managing this system
Overview
Bickleigh Mill operates under an EA permit requiring treatment to a 10 mg/l ammonia standard. WCI Service Engineers have maintained the treatment system, including its tertiary reed beds, since installation in 2008.
The Challenge
The system serves variable daily flows. EA permit compliance requires consistent management of grease traps, primary treatment, tertiary reed beds and the watercourse discharge point across all seasons.
The WCI Solution
Regular maintenance includes diarised emptying of grease trap and treatment system, management of the reed beds to ensure over 70% reed coverage as specified in the permit, annual reed cutting and debris removal in January, and ongoing support for the site’s maintenance team.
The Outcome
The system continues to meet EA permit standards, supporting Bickleigh Mill’s long-standing commitment to environmental responsibility.
