Overview

The owners of Windwhistle registered for WCI’s free septic tank upgrade scheme. The existing septic tank was located in an adjacent field on neighbouring land – requiring the replacement to be relocated within the customer’s own garden.

The Challenge

As per the scheme’s conditions, the new treatment plant had to be sited within the customer’s own garden. Access required crossing a neighbouring field and removing fencing for heavy machinery.

The WCI Solution

A GRAF one2clean was installed in the customer’s garden. The GRAF system’s airlift discharge accommodated deeper-than-expected drainage levels. A pumped rising main connects to the existing soakaway on the neighbouring land. An S106 agreement was prepared and signed with Somerset Council.

The Outcome

1.01 kg TP per year phosphate reduction contributing to WCI’s Somerset catchment scheme.
