Overview

The Cothelstone Estate in the Quantock Hills – a designated National Landscape, home to the same family since 1791 – needed its private drainage modernised before redevelopment could begin. The WCI Nutrient Neutrality Free Septic Tank Upgrade Scheme provided the solution at no cost.

The Challenge

Eight properties ranging from 5PE to 110PE systems required coordinated upgrading, with some sites needing remedial work to separate surface water from the foul network before installation could begin.

The WCI Solution

WCI Water & Wastewater project engineers surveyed all eight properties, planned access and determined installation methods. GRAF one2clean treatment plants were selected for their superior phosphate reduction capability.

Each system was commissioned in-house by WCI Service Engineers who are all British Water Accredited and GRAF Trained.

The Outcome

15.59 kg of phosphate betterment delivered per year. Every property now has a modern compliant system with WCI Service Engineers ensuring they continue to run efficiently.
