No – not directly. However, where the only available discharge point is a watercourse that happens to flow through a pond, it may sometimes be possible to demonstrate to the Environment Agency that the treated water is carried through the pond quickly and does not stagnate. This is a technically complex argument and can be difficult to make successfully.
