Compliance Survey Identifies Failed System – Bespoke EA Permit Clears House Sale
A cottage in rural Devon had a failed drainage field holding up its sale. Boggy ground and restricted access ruled out a replacement field. WCI secured a bespoke EA permit and a new STP cleared the sale.
Summary
- Bespoke EA permit secured - discharge to seasonal ditch under numeric permit limits
- BS EN 12566 certified package STP installed
- Full WCI Completion Pack provided to the new owner
Overview
Snows, a three-bedroom character cottage in rural Devon, had a failed septic tank and drainage field holding up its sale. A compliance survey confirmed the system had failed and a replacement drainage field was not possible. WCI found the route through.
The Challenge
Boggy ground, topography and restricted access ruled out any new drainage field. The only viable discharge was a seasonal ditch – requiring a bespoke EA permit with numeric quality limits rather than General Binding Rules registration.
The WCI Solution
WCI installed a BS EN 12566 package STP with discharge to the seasonal ditch under a bespoke EA permit. The new owner was guided through the system on site and received a full WCI Completion Pack.
The Outcome
The sale of Snows completed with a fully compliant system in place.
