STP and Rainwater Harvesting in a Single Shared Trench at a Refurbished Property
Rainbows End was undergoing a full refurbishment and needed both a new sewage treatment plant and a rainwater harvesting system. WCI Consulting Engineers specified both, sharing service trenches to minimise disruption.

Overview
Rainbows End was undergoing a full refurbishment and needed both a new sewage treatment plant and a rainwater harvesting system. WCI Consulting Engineers specified both, sharing service trenches to minimise the footprint and coordinate with the wider refurbishment programme.
The Challenge
The client wanted a non-electrical sewage treatment option, but the 10-year media replacement factor of the Ecoflo system tipped the decision. Both systems needed to be coordinated around the wider refurbishment programme.
The WCI Solution
WCI specified a Conder ASP 6PE STP installed to a Building Control compliant drainage field sized from client percolation tests, under an EA exemption meeting General Binding Rules. A Klargester Raintrap 14,000-litre rainwater harvesting system was specified alongside for grey water and garden irrigation, sharing the same service trenches. Both systems are maintained under a WCI service contract.
The Outcome
Both systems installed and operational within the refurbishment programme.
