Orchard View was close to exchange when the purchaser’s solicitor asked for a drainage survey. WCI Water & Wastewater Engineers found an illegal discharge and managed the replacement – creatively solving an access challenge in the process.

Taunton, Somerset

Summary

  • Illegal shared septic tank discharge identified on survey
  • Solido Smart 6PE - installed for vendor and neighbour
  • Materials lifted over boundary hedge from a neighbouring farmer's field - minimal lawn disruption

Overview

Orchard View was close to exchange when the purchaser’s solicitor requested a drainage survey. WCI Water & Wastewater Engineers found an illegal shared discharge and managed the compliant replacement before exchange – working creatively around a challenging access constraint.

The Challenge

The installation site was accessible only through a narrow gateway. A neighbouring farmer agreed to allow access across his field after harvest, enabling materials to be lifted over the hedge and spoil removed the same way.

The WCI Solution

A Solido Smart 6PE STP was installed via the field access route, with discharge to the seasonally dry ditch. Works were carried out under a Building Control Notice with a certified electrician.

The Outcome

The sale of Orchard View proceeded. The system is on a WCI annual service contract.
