To complete the project with zero disruption to drainage at either property

Overview

Two properties at Belvue shared a septic tank in an inaccessible back garden, with heavy clay soils ruling out a soakaway. Access to the rear gardens was only possible from a road below the garages. WCI Water & Wastewater Engineers won the instruction by thinking outside the box.

The Challenge

The rear gardens sat high above garages accessible only from the road. A small excavator needed to reach the rear garden – over the garage, from the road below.

The WCI Solution

A long-boom hiab lifted the small excavator over the garage from the road. A hand dig alongside the garage brought the new foul drain to road level. A WPL Diamond STP was installed under the single parking space in front of the garage. Treated effluent was pumped via a rising main along the roadside verge to a ditch in the neighbouring farmer’s field.

The Outcome

Works completed in one week with no disruption to foul drainage at either property throughout.
