Overview
Salary: c£30 - £45k
Location: Hybrid, 3 days based at Head Office
Contract: Full time Mon-Fri (40 hours per week)
Role Summary
We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our growing team based in Wiveliscombe. The purpose of this role is to develop solutions for the management of a wide range of sewage, surface water, and trade effluent requirements at domestic, commercial, and municipal scale across all stages of development.
This is a full-time, permanent position with working hours of 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday, with no evening or weekend work. Hybrid working is available, though weekly travel to the office in Wiveliscombe is required for three days a week due to the nature of the role.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality civil engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Developing drainage strategies, feasibility studies, and detailed drainage designs for construction
Preparing construction drawings, scale drawings, schematic reports, technical notes, and designer risk assessments
Acting as both a client lead and technical lead, while providing coaching and mentoring to junior staff
Defining project briefs following client information review and site walkovers
Working collaboratively as part of a design team including architects, structural and geotechnical engineers, while also confidently working independently where required
Preparing flood risk assessments and supporting construction teams during construction and commissioning, including setting-out drawings, construction details, and clash analysis
Owning client relationships and ensuring effective liaison across the broader design team
Coordinating and delivering regulatory approvals including environmental permits, planning permissions and other statutory requirements
Preparing feasibility, outline and detailed designs for foul drainage, including pumped and gravity systems
Using MicroDrainage for network design, sizing and specification of both water quantity and water quality features
Training
Mentored training for professional qualifications with the ICE
About You
Essential Skills/Qualifications
Academic qualification (eg Degree, HNC) in a relevant subject (eg Civil Engineering)
Minimum 3 years post qualification experience
Must have good written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge and experience in Autocad
Experience in drainage design (ideally using Causeway) and application of SuDS
Experience and awareness of construction site works.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications
Knowledge of nutrient neutrality
Knowledge of pumping station and rising main design
Knowledge of sewage treatment
Other candidate requirements
Must be able to independently act as client and technical lead
Must be able to define a client brief and prepare fee estimates, progress reports and otherwise manage the commercial relationship
