PROJECT ENGINEER

Salary: £35K – £45K

Location: Head Office nr Taunton

Contract: Full time (40 hours per week)

We now have a vacancy for a Project Engineer to join our growing team based from our offices in Wiveliscombe, Somerset.

The purpose of the role is to oversee the wastewater projects from start to finish. You will need to be solutions orientated with a background in groundworks and will be able to carry out surveying to scope, price, win and deliver a range of turnkey construction projects ensuring that work is completed on time, on budget and to a high standard. Further details below:

Surveying

  • Carry of out surveys of domestic, and commercial properties to establish functionality and compliance of existing drainage and water-related infrastructure.
  • Use construction and drainage-related surveying equipment (laser level, CCTV camera, etc).
  • Independently prepare site plans, drainage layouts, drainage reports, asset audits for distribution and recording.
  • Accurately define and document project and client requirements and briefs.

Design

  • Develop (both independently and through others) technical solutions that are cost effective, compliant and functional for:
    • Sewage treatment and management
    • Surface water management/SUDS
    • Potable water capture and delivery
    • Civil engineering of relevant infrastructure (e.g. headwalls, retaining walls, load-bearing structures, shoring and other temporary works, haul roads, etc)
  • Specify appropriate OEM equipment.
  • Use knowledge of sewage treatment and water management processes to inform creative design solutions.

Bid Preparation

  • Define construction programmes to deliver project designs.
  • Creation of bills of materials and resource plans.
  • Prepare estimates and bids for small works, turnkey, construction only, and other contract structures including lump sum tenders, estimates and rate and measures (eg SMM7)
  • Prepare tender documents and contracts.

Sales

  • Develop and win a pipeline of work to deliver sales targets

Project Delivery

  • Plan and deliver projects efficiently ensuring that the procurement of materials and resources is carried out to deliver best value for the Company.
  • Liaise with regulators (Environment Agency, Building Control, Highways, Water Authorities, Planning Departments, etc) to inform designs and deliver projects.
  • Set high standards of leadership in promotion, management, compliance and monitoring of Health & Safety procedures and best practice.
  • Ensure delivery of construction projects to a high standard ensuring that ITPs are produced and a QA file is produced and maintained.
  • Monitor and review profitability of projects.

Technical Leadership

  • Act as client and technical lead where appropriate.
  • Provide coaching, training and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Maintain awareness of UK technical standards and regulatory requirements and ensure communication and guidance on these standards and requirements across the business.
