Role: CIVIL ENGINEER
Salary: c£50K
Location: Based at Head Office nr Taunton
Contract: Full time (40 hours per week)
Due to ongoing growth, we seeking a Civil Engineer to join our growing team based in Wiveliscombe. The purpose of this role is to develop solutions for the management of a wide range of sewage, surface water, and trade effluent requirements at domestic, commercial, and municipal scale across all stages of development.
This is a full-time, permanent position with working hours of 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday, with no evening or weekend work. Hybrid working is available, though weekly travel to the office in Wiveliscombe is required due to the nature of the role.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality civil engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing drainage strategies, feasibility studies, and detailed drainage designs for construction
- Preparing construction drawings, scale drawings, schematic reports, technical notes, and designer risk assessments
- Acting as both a client lead and technical lead, while providing coaching and mentoring to junior staff
- Defining project briefs following client information review and site walkovers
- Working collaboratively as part of a design team — including architects, structural and geotechnical engineers — while also confidently working independently where required
- Preparing flood risk assessments and supporting construction teams during construction and commissioning, including setting-out drawings, construction details, and clash analysis
- Owning client relationships and ensuring effective liaison across the broader design team
- Coordinating and delivering regulatory approvals including environmental permits, planning permissions and other statutory requirements
- Preparing feasibility, outline and detailed designs for foul drainage, including pumped and gravity systems
- Using MicroDrainage for network design, sizing and specification of both water quantity and water quality features

- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to organise and manage multiple projects simultaneously
