DRAINAGE & WASTEWATER
Salary: £45K – £55K DOE & Level
Location: Head Office nr Taunton
Contract: Full time (40 hours per week)
Due to ongoing growth, we seeking either a Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer to join their expanding technical team in Wiveliscombe. This role will see you take the lead on developing engineering solutions for foul water, surface water, trade effluent, and related systems, across a broad range of projects and sectors.
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of drainage-related projects—from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and regulatory approval—working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as technical lead and client contact, with mentoring of junior staff
- Define project briefs through site walkovers and client engagement
- Deliver feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs for foul drainage systems, including gravity and pumped networks
- Produce high-quality documentation, including reports, technical notes, risk assessments and scaled drawings
- Secure planning permissions, environmental permits, and other regulatory consents
- Use MicroDrainage and similar tools to design SUDS and drainage systems for both water quantity and quality
Essential for Senior Engineer Level
- Experience in Drainage Engineering, SUDS, and Flood Risk Assessments
- Previous experience in a similar civil engineering role
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple live projects
- Confident communicator with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
Desirable for Principal Engineer Level
- Extensive experience in sewage treatment and pumping stations
- Familiarity with nutrient neutrality and associated mitigation design
- Chartered Engineer or working toward chartership (ICE, CIWEM)
- Ability to lead projects from inception through to construction phase
