Connected To Mains Sewage And Water

St Luke’s Church is a splendid little community church run by a Committee of volunteers. WCI worked with the Committee to connect the church to the mains water supply and install of simplex pumping station to allow for kitchen and toilet facilities.

A community project

St Luke’s Church, Langley, a Tin Tabernacle, was opened on 14th October 1893 and exactly 127 years later on 13th October 2020 the church was connected to mains water and mains drainage with the expertise of WCI.

The bringing of water and mains sewerage to this gem of a building has been a long-held ambition of the St Luke’s Committee and in some ways a complex project;  money had to be raised from a variety of charitable bodies, private donations and fundraising events, initial problems solved and a suitable local contractor found.

WCI understood the needs and constraints of a small community organisation, they had the skills, knowledge and technical workforce to bring water and sewerage along the lane to the church. WCI proposed a plan and technical solutions which were mindful of our budget, clearly explained and in keeping with the integrity of a heritage building.

Neighbours were kept informed, the workforce was willing and accommodating, work was on schedule and completed to a high standard.

The St Luke’s Committee is delighted now to be able to work on the next phase of the 20/20 Vision project; installing a small kitchen and later a lavatory for use at community events and for the congregation.
