PROTECTING OUR RIVERS STARTS AT HOME.

If you are a property owner in the one of the below river catchments, WCI can upgrade your existing and outdated septic tank to create a phosphate betterment, reducing the levels of harmful nutrients from reaching our rivers in Somerset.

WCI are able to offer upgrades to homeowners at zero cost as part of a Phosphate Credit Scheme which has been created to support developers in gaining planning approval for new homes.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Developers of all sizes, from single self-build extensions to National house builders, are required to offset the phosphates generated by their development.

By upgrading your inefficient system, a ‘phosphate betterment’ credit is created which can then be used to offset the phosphates generated by the new development.

This is how WCI are able to offer upgrades that are at zero cost to you as a homeowner.

Developers need to purchase Phosphate Credits, these credits are what fund the upgrade of your septic tank. This is also why the lead time can vary on when an upgrade will start.

    WHO QUALIFIES?

You could qualify for a free upgrade if:

    • You own a property with an existing septic tank
    • You’re located in an eligible scheme area
    • You’re willing to sign an agreement to ensure the new system is kept in good working order.
