We understand that there is no ‘one size fits all’ wastewater solution and we’re always on hand to answer any questions you may have about our services. In the meantime, we’ve listed some of our most frequently asked questions to help guide you.
Which geographical areas do you cover?
We’re based in Wiveliscombe on the Somerset/ Devon border and provide cover to domestic customers in Somerset, Devon, Dorset and Wiltshire and to commercial and public customers nationally.
What services do you offer?
WCI offer a wide range of services associated with drinking water, storm water and sewage allowing us to serve you in the way that best suits your requirements. For example, this holistic approach to water and wastewater treatment means that WCI can design a compliant solution, apply for the relevant Environment Agency Permit, install the designed system under Building Notice using our installation teams and then carry out the commissioning and ongoing servicing requirements through our Service Team of British Water Accredited Service Engineers. It’s wrap around care!
Why choose WCI?
Customers choose WCI because we provide professional, competent and lasting services. All our work is fully insured and guaranteed. Our staff are trained and qualified to the highest level (for example, our service engineers are all British Water accredited). Unlike many service providers, we are not tied to specific manufacturers and we service and install all makes and models of water and sewerage-related equipment. This means that we will design and install equipment that best suits your needs rather than where we get the biggest rebate!
Most of all, customers choose WCI because we make our customers’ problems our own and our customers trust us to do a good job.
Are you insured?
We are fully insured and carry professional indemnity insurance, contractors all risks and public, employers and products liability insurance.

How long have you been in business?
WCI has been looking after the water and wastewater needs of homeowners, self-builders and commercial clients for over 40 years. Established in 1983, we’re certified installers for a wide range of manufacturers and, with a strong focus on buildability and total life sustainability, we’ve earned an enviable reputation as the experts in wastewater drainage, design and planning.
What types of property do you serve?
We provide water and wastewater treatment solutions for residential and commercial properties, specialising in rural areas without access to the mains drainage network. We also offer end-to-end solutions across a range of water, wastewater and civil engineering sectors for all sizes of water, infrastructure and environmental project.
Which equipment manufacturers do work with?
We’re not affiliated to any one manufacturer so we will always choose the best system to address the individual needs of each customer and the site in question.
We are accredited installers and service providers for a number of systems, but we install, commission and service all makes and models of water and sewerage-related equipment including GRAF, Marsh, WSc (formerly WPL), Premiertech Aqua, Klargester, Tricel, Xylem and TT Pumps to name a few.
I've had a cheaper quote from another company to do the work. Why is your quote more expensive?
We understand that every situation is unique, and we offer personalised and tailored solutions that address the specific needs and challenges of each client. We won’t just install the cheapest sewage treatment plant and we’re not affiliated to any one manufacturer, so we’ll always choose the best system for your needs.
Selecting and installing a sewage treatment plant, even for the smallest property, should take account of a wide range of factors. Our professional engineers always survey your property to fully understand your needs and budget before recommending a sewage treatment plant that provides value for money using high quality materials, ensuring compliance and long-term functionality. There are no hidden charges.
We always aim to be competitive and relish opportunities to save our clients money where we can. Share competitor quotes and we will review the paperwork to ensure we are competing on a level playing field and sharpen our pencil where we can.
Do you provide a warranty for work?
Yes. Our Customer Warranty for Installation Services (Workmanship warranty) document is available on demand. Manufacturer’s Product Warranties cover the products supplied by WCI (i.e. tanks, blowers, pumps etc…).
How can I be sure my system will be compliant with the necessary qualifications?
All our installations are undertaken by our fully qualified and trained operatives. We include the coordination of Building Control on our works and ensure the discharge meets the Environment Agency General Binding Rules or WCI will apply for a Permit should one be required; our 18th Edition qualified electricians make the necessary electrical connections; our British Water-accredited service engineers professionally commission every system and then keep your system working through its serviceable life.
Can you design a bespoke wastewater treatment system?
Yes. WCI provides end-to-end solutions across a range of water, wastewater and civil engineering sectors. Our water engineering encompasses all aspects of water and wastewater management including the design and specification of package and bespoke treatment works.
Can I come and visit you at your offices, to put a face to a name?
Of course, reception can be found in The Watershed Unit 1, TA4 2PW. We will offer you a cuppa of something hot and a biscuit (if our electrician hasn’t snaffled them!).
