Secret World is a 24/7, 365 days a year wildlife rescue centre, caring for over 5,500 sick, injured and orphaned animals each year. The aim of our rescue and rehabilitation work is to return the animals to the wild whenever possible, and we believe in always giving an animal the best possible care and the best possible outcome. Secret World is supported by a team of over 600 dedicated volunteers who assist in all sorts of ways. As part of the events at Secret World the charity open their doors to the public for open days and run educational courses throughout the year.

Ham Wall is a National Nature Reserve on the Somerset Levels managed by the RSPB. Once part of a shallow sea, the reserve is made up of wetlands, reedbeds and peat bog teeming with wildlife and migratory birds. And thousands of visitors for which toilet facilities were desperately required.

The Ullenwood Estate17.03.15

Ullenwood Estate Started its life as an American WW2 hospital. All of the effluent flowed into a sewage processing works which had not been maintained since wartime. The whole system was rather complex and required electricity and a regular labour force to operate the gravel filters and the pumping system. The estate had evolved to comprise of the owners house, 3 holiday cottages and the 28 businesses who were based on the estate.

The Rousdon Estate16.03.15

Rousdon Estate is a unique development dating from the 1870s commissioned by Sir Henry Peek, with an impressive Tudor style grade II* listed Mansion House as its centrepiece which housed Allhallows School until its closure in 1998. The Estate is classified as a conservation area and the landscaped parkland is contained within tree belts which provide the perimeter to the estate on three sides.

During its heyday the estate had a population of over 700, including pupils, teachers and estate workers. The estate wastewater was served by a duplex trickling filter bed system with a discharge to ground.
